How to Use "Our Daily Bread" Booklet
1. Prepare your mind with a prayer before meditating on God's words
God's words are understood spiritually when God reveals them to us through the Holy Spirit by his grace. Therefore, it is important for us to pray to God in the spirit of Psalm 119:18, "Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law." If possible, try to have a minimum block time of half an hour for meditation and prayer.
2. Read the passage with a scholarly attitude
After prayer, read the Bible passage carefully. Observe repeated words, conjunctions and consider the context. Consulting several different translations and a Hebrew/English Bible or Greek/English Bible is also helpful. At times, try to visualize the scenes in the passage, read them out loud, or even act out the scenes. These exercises will help you be immersed in God's words.
3. Consult the booklet "Our Daily Bread"
The writers of "Our Daily Bread" have studied and taught the Bible for years. They have also labored to put forward God's words in such a way that they may be relevant to readers' lives. Use "Our Daily Bread" as a helpful reference book.
4. Write down your reflections and prayer
As you write down your reflections, you will often find that many unexpected insights and new understanding come to you from God through the work of the Holy Spirit. This is the benefit of spiritual journal writing.

Use either a separate notebook or the space given in "Our Daily Bread" booklet for recording your reflections and prayer according to your convenience. Try to write down your thoughts as regularly as you can. Allow yourself to sufficiently dwell in God's grace through the work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will fill your heart with grace, rest and strength. At the same time, the Holy Spirit will give you God's direction and guide the decisions you make. Identify this direction, and be specific in your decisions.
5. Conclude with a prayer
Pray that God may help you remember God's words, follow God's direction and enforce your decision by God's power. Prayer is your channel to God's power. If possible, try to pray in a quiet, orderly place. As you practice God's words through the power of prayer, your life will be full of the fruits of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22, 23)
